Important Policies Regarding financial assistance, charity cases, and collections
Douglas Laser & Surgery Center’s policy for collections is:
If the patient has a balance after services are rendered, Douglas Laser and Surgery Center’s standard collection procedure is to send three statements to patients for their cost-sharing amounts, which, if not paid on a timely basis, may then be placed with an attorney or collection agency to pursue such unpaid amounts. If accounts are placed with an attorney and/or collection agency, the costs charged by the attorney and/or collection agency will be passed onto the patient to pay.
Good Faith Estimate:
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

Payments
Each patient is expected to pay their estimated financial liability on or before the day of service. In the event a patient is unable to pay the estimated liability in full, our surgery center offers CareCredit as a finance option. Please contact us for further information.

Please contact the health care practitioners anticipated to provide service to the patient or anticipated patient while in the center regarding a personalized estimate, billing practices and participation with the patient’s insurance provider or health maintenance organization (HMO) as the practitioners may not participate with the same health insurers or HMO as Douglas Laser & Surgery Center.
